"EXPLORE ANCIENT WONDERS IN ENCHANTING YUCATAN PARADISE"
DAY 1: CANCUN - UXMAL - MERIDA
Embark on a captivating journey from Cancun to the ancient Mayan city of Uxmal, whose name "three times built" speaks to its remarkable history. As the former capital of the Xiu Kingdom, Uxmal served as a center of power and influence in the region during the Classic period. Marvel at the exquisite Puuc-style architecture, including the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the Ball Court, and the Pyramid of the Soothsayer, which soars an impressive 35 meters high. This excellent site has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and is a must-see for anyone interested in Mayan culture.
Following the tour, we'll journey to the enchanting city of Mérida, founded in 1542 on the ruins of the ancient Mayan city of T'Hó. Admire the city's elegant buildings, such as the Centre Montejo, the Cathedral of San Ildefonso, and the Government Palace, all located around the vibrant Plaza Grande. Take a scenic ride along the renowned Paseo de Montejo, where you'll spot stunning landmarks such as the Twin Houses, the Canton Palace, and the Monument to the Homeland. Upon arriving at the hotel, you'll have ample free time to explore Mérida's rich culture and history at your leisure.
DAY 2: MERIDA - IZAMAL - CHICHEN ITZA -CANCUN
Prepare to embark on a remarkable adventure as we depart from the hotel and head towards the awe-inspiring "Yellow City" of Izamal. Be amazed by the historic centre’s beauty, where the imposing San Antonio de Padua Convent stands out. This impressive structure boasts 75 arches and an area of 7,806.43 square meters, making it the second-largest closed atrium in the world. Built by Franciscan missionaries between 1549 and 1561 on the remains of the Pop-Hol-Chac pyramid, the convent is surrounded by the Plaza Zamná, also known as the Plaza del Mercado, the Municipal Palace, and several pyramids, including Tu'Ul, Habuk, Itzamatúl, and Kinich Kakmó, with the latter being the largest in the Yucatán peninsula.
But that's not all! After exploring Izamal, we'll venture toward one of the main archaeological sites of the Mayan World, the religious capital of the Itzaes - Chichén Itzá. Experience the peak of Mayan civilization during the Early Postclassic period at this iconic site, whose name means "the mouth of the well of the water sorcerers." In 1988, UNESCO declared it a World Cultural Heritage Site, and it's not hard to see why. Our tour will begin at the Castillo or Temple of Kukulcan, renowned for the mesmerizing play of light and shadow that occurs on its main staircase during the spring and autumn equinoxes, as well as the winter and summer solstices. This impressive building, recognized as one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World, is just the beginning. We'll also visit the Sacred Cenote and other major constructions, including the Ball Court, the Observatory, the Plaza of the Thousand Columns, and the Temple of the Warriors, among others.
At the end of this unforgettable adventure, we'll return to Cancun, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to witness the history and grandeur of the Mayan World.
